This article describes the traces that the philosopher-sociolo-gist of Italian law Renato Treves left in the Argentine Republic during his exile. It is part of the analysis of the context in which this Italian sociolo-gist is inserted in the modernization process of the National University of Tucumán. The Institute of Economic and Sociological Research (IIES), where Renato Treves was in charge of the Area of Sociology, published his book “Introduction to Social Research” (1942), with an Appendix on 'Conventillos' in the City of Tucumán, which is the subject of analysis.
