Abstract

GUTIERREZ, Juan José  and  BRITTI, Lucía. José Manuel Felipe Pastor. An. Inst. Arte Am. Investig. Estét. Mario J. Buschiazzo [online]. 2019, vol.49, n.1, pp.111-124. ISSN 2362-2024.

José Manuel Felipe Pastor was an Argentinian architect and urban planner who developed his career between mid 1940's and the beginning of 1970's. His most important works were the final project for the reconstruction of San Juan City in 1944 and his assignments in the province of Buenos Aires during the government of Domingo Mercante, which includes his participation at the Great Buenos Aires Advisory Commission. These works should be understood in the context of a prolific career, linked to the development of regulatory plans, the design and management of architectural works and the production of texts about urban planning. This article draws the different profiles that lived in the figure of the architect and points out the relationship between architecture and the city, and the role of his written production in the practice of urban planning.
