Resumen

FOCAS, Brenda  y  GALAR, Santiago. Insecurity and Media: Journalistic practices and crime audience composition in Argentina (2010-2015). Delito soc. [online]. 2016, vol.25, n.41, pp.59-76. ISSN 0328-0101.

The article repairs in the role of the Media as an actor that co-constructed senses about crime. First, we analyzed the construction by the media of dramatic stories and the realization of associations of certain "cases" with the insecurity problem. Second, we inquire into the question of the public, as audiences interpellated as citizens-victims and as collective actors with capacity for action in the public space. Particularly we repair in the ways in which the crime news impact in the construction of certain profiles that promote empathy in public opinion but also weariness and rejection. Starting from the realization of in depth interviews with news reporters and publics, and content analysis of different media platforms, the article questioned perspectives that tend to simplify the social influence of the Media by imitaiting itself to indicate the responsibilities of these actors in the generation of social fears.

Palabras clave : Media; Journalistic practices; Publics; Crime news; Insecurity.
