The literature about prison life has examined the place of work in custodial institutions in two ways: micro sociologically, describing the multiple uses of work inside prison and macro sociologically, establishing the relationship between prison work and social order. However, studies that retrieve the prisoner´s perspective about work are less developed. The present paper therefore proposes investigate prisoner´s perceptions about prison work. In this respect, we examine how to develop work activities allow prisoners address the deprivations and pains produced by imprisonment. The present study was developed from qualitative approach because we want to reconstruct and analyze prisoner´s perspective about work by means of in-depth interviews. It performed in the penitentiary unit n°1 of the province of Santa Fe.
