Resumen

ROSENBERG, Laura. Hacemos el mismo trabajo que un redactor: Identidad y condiciones laborales de pasantes de prensa gráfica. Estud. trab. [online]. 2018, n.56. ISSN 0327-5744.

The article analyzes the conditions for the insertion of young journalists in the newsroom of Página/12 newspaper, and its disparity with the role they play in the division of work within the newsroom. There is a contradiction between the formally instituted role -established in the current regulations of the internship system- and the role informally played by these young people. Specifically, two consequences associated with this intersection between the definition of the role and the nature of the activities carried out by the interns will be studied: a first effect associated with the identification process, where newcomers alternate their characterization as "interns" and as "a reporter". The second effect exposes what has been defined as the "trap" of the internships: in order to obtain the greatest benefit from this stage of training, self-exploitation forms are incurred, which reinforce the exploitation that the company already exercises in a context signed by labor precariousness. To carry out the analysis, a fieldwork was developed in the newsroom of Página/12 newspaper, which included the use of ethnographic techniques such as participant observation and interviews with different members of the staff.

Palabras clave : Internships; Printed press; Journalism; Labor precariousness.
