Comments.-The known distribution of Siphlophis compressus is discontinuous. The species occurs from central Bolivia to the mouth of the Amazonas River, Costa Rica, and Trinidad and Tobago. In the Brazilian Atlantic Forest, the species is known from the states of Rio de Janeiro to Sergipe (Peters & Donoso-Barros, 1970; Freitas & Silva, 2005; Pontes et al., 2008; Bolaños et al., 2010; Lula-Salles et al., 2010). These new records for Alagoas State are the first for this species north of the São Francisco River, and extend the known distribution of S. compressus 200 km north (straight line) from Sergipe State, to the forests of the Pernambuco Endemism Center.
