La Asociación Argentina de Cirugía (AAC) como institución científica comenzó su actividad en el año 1930. Su prestigio la convirtió en referente para los cirujanos de todo el país, de Latinoamérica y de otras entidades de consulta en el resto del mundo.
Su presidencia fue liderada por cirujanos de gran renombre, que aportaron sus conocimientos y sabiduría en pos de dotar a la institución del reconocimiento que ostenta.
En su trayectoria a través de los años debió sortear innumerables avatares de la política y la economía, que logró superar, sin perder la calidad y el prestigio de siempre.
En el año 2019 fui elegido para presidirla, honor que agradezco y que me comprometió a realizar un aporte que se acerque, en lo posible, a la brillante labor de los cirujanos que me precedieron.
Los problemas que presentaba la AAC eran recurrentes y fueron tratados por las administraciones precedentes con resultados variados, a pesar del enorme esfuerzo de sus comisiones directivas por resolverlos.
A nuestro entender debíamos abordarlos con la colaboración de una consultoría, para que nos ayudara a diseñar un plan estratégico con miras al futuro.
La consultora trabajó durante 9 meses en la AAC y realizó 4 Workshops, donde participaron miembros de la Comisión Directiva y de las diferentes comisiones y comités, cuyo resultado final fue el “Programa de Transformación de la AAC ”, con 10 proyectos buscando un ordenamiento y planificación.
Este proyecto fue iniciado durante la presidencia del Dr. Juan Álvarez Rodríguez, a quien acompañé y ayudé a iniciar el camino de desarrollar y darles forma .
Se pusieron en marcha 4 de los 10 proyectos y este año continuaremos con los 6 restantes.
Se nombraron líderes en cada uno de ellos, que son los responsables de su periódico monitoreo, como también de su evolución a la Comisión Directiva, para el seguimiento en el proceso de realización.
Un párrafo aparte merece el proyecto de gremiales, que siempre fue un tema de reclamo recurrente por parte de los cirujanos MAAC.
Se investigó y se citó a un abogado y un cirujano con vasta experiencia en el tema, que trabajan en conjunto con el Comité de gremiales y laborales.
Para las próximas Jornadas de Otoño, que se realizarán en Puerto Madryn en el mes de abril, se organizó un simposio referido al tema, donde se informará de las tareas realizadas y por realizar, así como también la recepción de opiniones de los colegas de todo el país, a fin de coordinar las estrategias posibles para el futuro.

Los integrantes de la Comisión Directiva que me acompañan conforman un grupo de renombrados profesionales, que por su compromiso, dedicación y gran interés en el futuro de la AAC hacen más fácil mi tarea.
Iniciamos una senda de cambios, buscando optimizar y posicionar a la AAC, acompañando su dilatada trayectoria de excelencia científica, en beneficio de la Cirugía Argentina.
Convoco a todos los MAAC y en especial a los más jóvenes, a integrarse a la Asociación y participar, acercar ideas y formar parte de las comisiones o comités y así incorporar nuevas generaciones, que continúen el camino de esta prestigiosa institución, que nació hace 89 años.

ENGLISH VERSION

The Argentine Association of Surgery (AAC) as a scientific institution began its activity in 1930. Its prestige made it a reference for surgeons across the country, Latin America and other consulting entities in the rest of the world.
His presidency was led by renowned surgeons, who contributed their knowledge and wisdom in order to provide the institution with the recognition it holds.
In his career through the years he had to overcome innumerable avatars of politics and the economy, which he managed to overcome, without losing the quality and prestige of always.
In the year 2019 I was elected to preside over it, an honor that I appreciate and that promised me to make a contribution that comes, as far as possible, to the brilliant work of the surgeons that preceded me.
The problems presented by the AAC were recurrent and were treated by the previous administrations with mixed results, despite the enormous effort of their management committees to solve them.
To our knowledge we should approach them with the collaboration of a consultancy, to help us design a strategic plan for the future.
The consultant worked for 9 months in the AAC and held 4 Workshops, where members of the Board of Directors and of the different commissions and committees participated, whose final result was the “AAC Transformation Program”, with 10 projects seeking an ordering and planning.
This project was initiated during the presidency of Dr. Juan Álvarez Rodríguez, whom I accompanied and helped to start the path of developing and shaping them.
Four of the 10 projects were launched and this year we will continue with the remaining 6.
Leaders were appointed in each of them, who are responsible for their periodic monitoring, as well as their evolution to the Board of Directors, for follow-up in the realization process.
A separate paragraph deserves the trade union project, which was always a recurring complaint issue by MAAC surgeons.
A lawyer and a surgeon with vast experience in the subject, who work together with the Union and Labor Committee, were sought after and cited.
For the next Autumn Scientific Conferences, which will be held in Puerto Madryn in April, a symposium was organized on the subject, which will inform about the tasks performed and to be performed, as well as the reception of opinions from colleagues from all over the country, in order to coordinate possible strategies for the future.

The members of the Board of Directors that accompany me make up a group of renowned professionals, who because of their commitment, dedication and great interest in the future of the AAC make my task easier.
We began a path of changes, seeking to optimize and position the AAC, accompanying its long trajectory of scientific excellence, for the benefit of Argentine Surgery.
I call on all MAAC and especially the youngest, to join the Association and participate, bring ideas and be part of the commissions or committees and thus incorporate new generations, to continue the path of this prestigious institution, which was born 89 years ago.
