O presente estudo teve como objetivo descrever a estrutura da comunidade de morcegos em três áreas sob os domínios da Floresta Estacional Decidual, no município de Frederico Westphalen, no extremo norte do estado do Rio Grande do Sul. De outubro de 2005 a setembro de 2006, cada área recebeu esforço amostral de uma noite por mês do pôr ao nascer do sol. Em 36 noites de trabalho foram obtidas um total de 511 capturas de morcegos de 15 espécies e três famílias. Vespertilionidae apresentou sete espécies, seguida de Phyllostomidae com seis e Molossidae com duas espécies. O teste não paramétrico de Kruskal-Wallis revelou não haver diferenças significativas entre as três áreas. Sturnira lilium (É. Geoffroy, 1810) e Artibeus lituratus (Olfers, 1818) foram as espécies mais capturadas, com 52.4% e 34.4% de abundância relativa, respectivamente. As espécies frugívoras representaram 90.5% do total de capturas, seguidos pelos insetívoros com 9.3% e carnívoros com apenas 2%. Não houve diferenças significativas na composição da comunidade entre os meses e nem entre as estações do ano, sugerindo ausência de variações sazonais. As curvas de acumulação e de rarefação de espécies indicam que com a continuidade dos esforços o número de espécies continuaria aumentando. A ocorrência de espécies consideradas raras no sul do Brasil reforça a importância dos fragmentos florestais para a manutenção da diversidade da fauna de morcegos.]]></p></abstract>

<body><![CDATA[<p align="left"><font size="2" face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><b>Key words: </b>Abundance; Mammals; Municipality of Frederico Westphalen;  Richness; Similarity.</font></p> <hr />     <p align="left">&nbsp;</p>     <p align="left"><font size="3" face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><b>INTRODUçãO </b></font></p>     <p align="left"><font size="3" face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"> O Brasil, juntamente com a Colômbia, M&eacute;xico e Indon&eacute;sia, &eacute; um pa&iacute;s  considerado megadiverso (Mittermeier et al., 1992), devido à grande quantidade  de esp&eacute;cies animais e vegetais que abriga. Atualmente, essa biodiversidade est&aacute;  ameaçada por uma conjunção de causas que podem levar a perda de v&aacute;rias dessas  esp&eacute;cies. Dentre essas causas estão a incursão do homem nos ambientes naturais  e a cont&iacute;nua fragmentação dos habitats em subdivis&otilde;es cada vez menores  (Terborgh, 1992). <br />   Os morcegos são reconhecidamente importantes  na regulação dos ecossistemas tropicais e em muitas &aacute;reas representam 40 a 50% das esp&eacute;cies de  mam&iacute;feros (Patterson e Pascual, 1972; Timm, 1994). Sua not&aacute;vel diversidade de  formas, adaptaç&otilde;es morfol&oacute;gicas e h&aacute;bitos alimentares, permitem a utilização  dos mais variados nichos, em complexa relação de interdependência com o meio  (Fenton et al., 1992; Pedro et al., 1995; Kalko, 1997). <br />   Destacam-se, nessa linha de racioc&iacute;nio, a  intensa participação dos nectar&iacute;voros como polinizadores de numerosas plantas  (interação conhecida como quiropterofilia), interferindo diretamente nos  processos de reprodução das mesmas; a disseminação de frutos e sementes, em  razão do comportamento caracter&iacute;stico de transporte de frutos ou sementes  ingeridas a distâncias consider&aacute;veis, observado em morcegos frug&iacute;voros  (quiropterocoria); e, a decisiva contribuição para manutenção das populaç&otilde;es de  insetos dentro de um equil&iacute;brio razo&aacute;vel, levando-se em conta que a maioria das  esp&eacute;cies apresenta h&aacute;bito alimentar inset&iacute;voro (Taddei, 1996). <br />   Estudos intensivos sobre comunidades de  morcegos neotropicais, buscando mais do que simplesmente listas anotadas,  tiveram in&iacute;cio h&aacute; cerca de quatro d&eacute;cadas, objetivando principalmente elucidar  os diferentes aspectos de sua estrutura, tais como riqueza, os n&iacute;veis de  abundância, diversidade, partilha de recursos e os mecanismos que regulam estes  parâmetros (Fleming et al., 1972; Bonaccorso, 1979; Aldridge e Rautenbach,  1987; Willig e Moulton, 1989; Findley, 1993; Kalko et al., 1996; Lim e  Engstrom, 2001). Apesar dos in&uacute;meros esforços empreendidos desde os primeiros  estudos, ainda não existe consenso sobre os mecanismos que facilitam a  coexistência das esp&eacute;cies nas comunidades de morcegos. Willig et al. (1993)  mencionam que talvez o maior obst&aacute;culo ao progresso na compreensão da ecologia  das comunidades de morcegos &eacute; o pouco conhecimento que temos sobre  auto-ecologia das esp&eacute;cies. Por outro lado, as limitaç&otilde;es metodol&oacute;gicas  intr&iacute;nsecas aos estudos de animais com h&aacute;bitos noturnos e com grande  flexibilidade comportamental tamb&eacute;m constituem desafios para o avanço da  quiropterologia. <br />   Nas &uacute;ltimas três d&eacute;cadas, o incremento nos estudos com morcegos,  incluindo aspectos biol&oacute;gicos, biogeogr&aacute;ficos, taxonômicos e filogen&eacute;ticos foi  consider&aacute;vel (Kunz e Racey, 1998). Contudo, para o Brasil, a base de dados  ainda &eacute; insatisfat&oacute;ria (Bernard et al., 2011). <br />   De acordo com Fenton et al. (1992) morcegos têm grande potencial  como indicadores de n&iacute;veis de destruição de habitats, al&eacute;m de serem  considerados bom material de estudos sobre diversidade, devido à variedade e  abundância de esp&eacute;cies nas regi&otilde;es tropicais. No Brasil os morcegos representam  cerca de um terço das esp&eacute;cies de mam&iacute;feros (Reis et al., 2006). <br />   Das 168 esp&eacute;cies de quir&oacute;pteros com ocorrência  conhecida para o Brasil (Miranda et al., 2006; Miranda et al., 2007; Reis et  al., 2007), 40 possuem registros no Rio Grande do Sul (Silva, 1985; 1994;  Gonz&aacute;lez, 2003; Pacheco e Marques, 2006; Weber et al., 2006; Bernardi et al., 2007;  Pacheco et al., 2007; Passos et al., 2010). <br />   A localização geogr&aacute;fica e a heterogeneidade de ambientes  encontrados na Região Sul do Brasil se refletem em uma quiropterofauna com  caracter&iacute;sticas &iacute;mpares, composta por esp&eacute;cies que têm na região seus limites  meridionais de distribuição, assim como, por esp&eacute;cies que ali encontram seus  limites setentrionais (Pacheco et al., 2007; Passos et al., 2010). <br />   O Rio Grande do Sul &eacute; o estado mais austral do Brasil e  situa-se em uma zona de transição entre os ecossistemas tropicais do sudeste e  centro-oeste do Brasil e os ecossistemas subtropicais e temperados da &aacute;rea da  bacia do rio da Prata (Belton, 1994). <br />   Apesar de a partir da d&eacute;cada de 1980 o estado ter recebido  um not&aacute;vel incremento no conhecimento quiropterol&oacute;gico, a grande maioria dos  estudos esteve concentrada na porção leste e nordeste, restando extensas &aacute;reas  do estado que receberam pouco ou nenhum esforço amostral (Pacheco e Marques,  2006; Pacheco et al., 2007). <br />   As informaç&otilde;es sobre a quiropterofauna do extremo norte do  Estado, porção originalmente coberta por vastas extens&otilde;es da Floresta Estacional  Decidual, ainda remontam aos esforços de Wallauer e Albuquerque (1986) que  apresentaram dados preliminares sobre a mastofauna do Parque Estadual do Turvo  (PET). Foi somente h&aacute; cerca de 20 anos depois do trabalho de Wallauer e  Albuquerque (1986) que a lista de esp&eacute;cies da região foi aumentada, com os  registros de: (1) <i>Eumops auripendulus </i>Shaw, 1800 no ex-Parque Estadual  de Nonoai (atualmente &aacute;rea ind&iacute;gena) (Trierveiler et al., 2002), (2) <i>Noctilio  leporinus </i>Linnaeus, 1758 no PET (Silva et al., 2005) e (3) <i>Molossops  neglectus </i>Willians e Genoways, 1980 no munic&iacute;pio de Frederico Westphalen  (Bernardi et al., 2007). <br />   De acordo com Pacheco et al. (2007) a região do Alto  Uruguai, local do presente estudo, &eacute; priorit&aacute;ria para a realização de esforços  visando à conservação dos morcegos no Rio Grande do Sul. Em vista disso, o  presente estudo teve como objetivo conhecer a estrutura da comunidade de  morcegos em três fragmentos de Floresta Estacional Decidual sob diferentes  graus de perturbação antr&oacute;pica, no extremo norte do Rio Grande do Sul, norteado  pelas seguintes perguntas: (1) Como estão estruturadas as comunidades de  morcegos nas &aacute;reas estudadas? (2) Existem diferenças nos parâmetros riqueza,  abundância e constância das esp&eacute;cies nas &aacute;reas estudadas? (3) Existem  diferenças significativas na riqueza e na abundância de esp&eacute;cies ao longo dos  meses e estaç&otilde;es do ano?</font></p>     <p align="left"><font size="3" face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">  <b>MATERIAL  E M&Eacute;TODOS </b></font></p>     <p align="left"><font size="3" face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><b>&Aacute;rea de estudo </b> <br />   As &aacute;reas de  estudo localizam-se no munic&iacute;pio de Frederico Westphalen (27º 21' S e 53º 23' O, altitude de 522 m s.n.m.), no M&eacute;dio Alto  Uruguai, Estado do Rio Grande do Sul. Frederico Westphalen est&aacute; localizado  entre três &uacute;ltimos grandes remanescentes florestais do extremo norte do estado,  distando cerca de 40 km  do Parque Estadual do Turvo (17   491 ha), 28   km da &Aacute;rea Ind&iacute;gena de Nonoai (17 000 ha) e 14 km da Terra Ind&iacute;gena de  Guarita (14 740 ha). <br />   O clima da  região &eacute; temperado do tipo subtropical com temperatura m&eacute;dia anual em torno 18oC, com m&aacute;ximas no verão podendo atingir 41oC e m&iacute;nimas no inverno atingindo valores inferiores a 0oC. A precipitação anual &eacute; geralmente entre 1800 e 2100 mm bem distribu&iacute;dos ao  longo do ano (Bernardi et al., 2007). <br />   A região de  Frederico Westphalen encontra-se no bioma Mata Atlântica, a cerca de 70 km dos primeiros contatos  da floresta com os campos do bioma Pampa. As três &aacute;reas de amostragem estão sob  os dom&iacute;nios da Floresta Estacional Decidual e podem ser caracterizadas pelos  diferentes graus de alteração antr&oacute;pica quando comparadas entre si, a constar: <br />   &Aacute;rea 1:  Fragmento florestal em zona rural - fragmento florestal de 35 hectares localizado  a 3 km da  &aacute;rea urbana. Predomina vegetação em est&aacute;gio secund&aacute;rio de sucessão com porç&otilde;es  de floresta prim&aacute;ria alterada. A &aacute;rea &eacute; cortada pelo c&oacute;rrego Tunas e &eacute; a que  sofre menor perturbação antr&oacute;pica. <br />   &Aacute;rea 2: Fragmento  florestal periurbano - Fragmento florestal de aproximadamente 45 hectares mant&eacute;m  contato com a &aacute;rea urbanizada em um dos lados e com &aacute;reas rurais de cultivo no  outro lado. Caracterizado por vegetação em est&aacute;gio secund&aacute;rio de sucessão. Esta  &aacute;rea sofre perturbação antr&oacute;pica moderada quando comparada às demais. <br />   &Aacute;rea 3: Bosque urbano - Localizada na &aacute;rea urbana do  munic&iacute;pio &eacute; formada por &aacute;reas gramadas com vegetação esparsa, onde estão  presentes esp&eacute;cies nativas e esp&eacute;cies ex&oacute;ticas. Esta &aacute;rea sofre alta  perturbação antr&oacute;pica. <br />   A &aacute;rea 1 est&aacute; localizada a aproximadamente dois quilômetros  das demais &aacute;reas, que entre si distam cerca de 600 metros.</font></p>     <p align="left"><font size="3" face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">  <b>Obtenção dos dados </b> <br />   Cada uma  das três &aacute;reas recebeu uma noite completa de amostragem por mês (do pôr ao  nascer do sol), entre outubro de 2005 e setembro de 2006, totalizando 36 noites  de coletas (12 noites em cada &aacute;rea). Em cada noite foram utilizadas seis redes  (7 x 2.5 m)  posicionadas a 0.5 m  do solo em trilhas, clareiras, bordas da mata, bem como dispostas  perpendicularmente sobre cursos d'&aacute;gua. As redes eram revisadas em intervalos  de uma hora. <br />   Os morcegos foram identificados de acordo com Vieira (1942),  LaVal (1973), Vizotto e Taddei (1973), Taddei et al. (1998), Barquez et al.  (1999), L&oacute;pez-Gonz&aacute;lez et al. (2001) e Gregorin e Taddei (2002). Comparaç&otilde;es  com esp&eacute;cimes depositados em museus tamb&eacute;m foram utilizadas para confirmação da  identidade espec&iacute;fica dos exemplares. <br /> </font><font size="3" face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Esp&eacute;cimes testemunho estão depositados na Coleção  Cient&iacute;fica de Mastozoologia do Departamento de Zoologia, Universidade Federal  do Paran&aacute; (DZUP/ CCMZ) (<b><a href="#ap">Ap&eacute;ndice</a></b>).</font></p>     <p align="left"><font size="3" face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">  <b>An&aacute;lise dos dados </b> <br />   Objetivando  comparar o ac&uacute;mulo de esp&eacute;cies em cada &aacute;rea, constru&iacute;mos curvas de acumulação e  rarefação de esp&eacute;cies em função dos meses de amostragem e do n&uacute;mero de  esp&eacute;cimes obtidos, respectivamente. Foi calculada a constância (C) de cada  esp&eacute;cie em cada uma das &aacute;reas de acordo com Ciechanowski (2002), considerando  uma esp&eacute;cie comum quando C = 50%, relativamente comum quando 25% &le; C < 50% e  rara quando C < 25%. A abundância relativa (Ar %) na comunidade foi calculada  multiplicando o n&uacute;mero de capturas de cada esp&eacute;cie por 100 e dividindo o  resultado pelo n&uacute;mero total de capturas. Calculamos tamb&eacute;m a estimativa da  riqueza de esp&eacute;cies pelo m&eacute;todo de Jackknife. <br />   Para a realização das an&aacute;lises estat&iacute;sticas os dados de  abundância foram logaritmizados para reduzir o efeito das esp&eacute;cies muito  abundantes nos resultados. Como os dados de abundância por &aacute;rea não  apresentaram distribuição normal (Shapiro-Wilk p < 0.05), foi utilizado o  teste não-param&eacute;trico de Kruskal-Wallis, com n&iacute;vel de significância de 5%, para  verificar a existência de diferenças significativas entre as &aacute;reas. <br />   Para  verificar a similaridade entre as três &aacute;reas amostradas realizamos uma an&aacute;lise  de agrupamento utilizando o &iacute;ndice de similaridade de Bray-Curtis expresso em  porcentagem de similaridade. <br />   Objetivando  verificar variaç&otilde;es sazonais foram constru&iacute;das matrizes de similaridade  (Bray-Curtis) entre os meses e entre as estaç&otilde;es do ano. A partir das matrizes  foram confeccionados mapas perceptuais utilizando-se de an&aacute;lises de escalonamento  multidimensional não-m&eacute;trico (MDS), com sobreposição de Cluster. A existência  de diferenças sazonais significativas foi testada a partir do teste de  Kruskal-Wallis. <br />   Para as  an&aacute;lises foram utilizados os pacotes estat&iacute;sticos Ecological Methodology 5.2,  Bioestat 5 e Primer 6, a  partir dos crit&eacute;rios apresentados por Krebs (1998), Zar (1999), Magurran (2004)  e Hair et al. (2009).</font></p>     <p align="left"><font size="3" face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">  <b>RESULTADOS </b></font></p>     <p align="left"><font size="3" face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"> Ao final  de 36 noites de captura, foram obtidas 511 capturas (incluindo 15 recapturas)  de morcegos pertencentes a 15 esp&eacute;cies representantes de três fam&iacute;lias (<b><a href="#tab1">Tabela  1</a></b>): Fam&iacute;lia Vespertilionidae com sete esp&eacute;cies, seguida de Phyllostomidae  com seis e Molossidae com duas esp&eacute;cies. A riqueza estimada pelo m&eacute;todo de  Jackknife para as três &aacute;reas em conjunto foi de 20.3 esp&eacute;cies. </font></p>     ]]></body>

Nas &aacute;reas 1 e  3 ocorreram 11 esp&eacute;cies cada, enquanto a &aacute;rea 2 teve somente sete esp&eacute;cies. A  &aacute;rea 1 apresentou quatro esp&eacute;cies exclusivas; <i>Chrotopterus auritus </i>(Peters,  1856), <i>Myotis nigricans </i>(Schinz, 1821), <i>M. ruber </i>(&Eacute;. Geoffroy,  1806) e <i>Molossops neglectus </i>Willians e Genoways, 1980. A &aacute;rea 3 apresentou  três esp&eacute;cies exclusivas; <i>Platyrrhinus lineatus </i>(&Eacute;. Geoffroy, 1810), <i>Histiotus  velatus </i>(I. Geoffroy, 1824) e <i>Molossus molossus </i>(Pallas, 1766). A  &aacute;rea 2 não revelou nenhuma esp&eacute;cie exclusiva. <br />   <i>Sturnira  lilium </i>(&Eacute;. Do total de recapturas  obtidas, 10 foram realizadas em &aacute;rea distinta da primeira captura do exemplar,  sendo seis recapturas de <i>S. lilium </i>e quatro de <i>A. lituratus</i>. <br />   O c&aacute;lculo da constância revelou para a &aacute;rea 1, cinco esp&eacute;cies  raras, três esp&eacute;cies relativamente comuns e três comuns. J&aacute; a &aacute;rea 2 apresentou  quatro esp&eacute;cies raras, uma relativamente comum e duas comuns e a &aacute;rea 3  apresentou oito esp&eacute;cies raras, uma relativamente comum e duas comuns (<b><a href="#tab1">Tabela  1</a></b>). <br />   A distribuição  tr&oacute;fica das esp&eacute;cies revelou cinco esp&eacute;cies com h&aacute;bito alimentar predominantemente  frug&iacute;voro, nove de h&aacute;bito inset&iacute;voro e apenas uma esp&eacute;cie de h&aacute;bito carn&iacute;voro (<b><a href="#tab1">Tabela  1</a></b>). A despeito disso, as cinco esp&eacute;cies frug&iacute;voras representam 90.5% da  comunidade, enquanto os inset&iacute;voros representam 9.3% e carn&iacute;voros apenas 2%.<br />   A <b><a href="#fig2">Fig. 2</a> </b>apresenta as curvas de  acumulação de esp&eacute;cies total e para as três &aacute;reas de acordo com os meses de  amostragem. Pode-se observar que para as &aacute;reas 1 e 3 não houve uma  estabilização evidente, j&aacute; que em ambas as &aacute;reas houve aumento no numero de esp&eacute;cies  na nona (&aacute;rea 3) e d&eacute;cima (&aacute;rea 1) noites de coleta. Apenas a curva da &aacute;rea 2  apresentou estabilização desde a quinta noite de amostragem. <body><![CDATA[<p align="left"><font size="3" face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"> O teste de Kruskal-Wallis revelou não  haver diferenças significativas entre as comunidades (H=1.47, g.l.=2, p=0.47),  e, não rejeitou a hip&oacute;tese nula de similaridade entre os meses (H=9.95,  g.l.=11, p=0.53) nem entre as estaç&otilde;es do ano (H=5.51, g.l.=3, p=0.13),  indicando a ausência de diferenças significativas de car&aacute;ter sazonal. Dendrograma demonstrando a porcentagem de  similaridade entre as &aacute;reas pelo &iacute;ndice de Bray-Curtis, Rio Grande do Sul,  Brasil.  </font></p>     <p align="left"><font size="3" face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">  As <b><a href="#fig5">Figs. 5</a> </b>e <b><a href="#fig6">6</a> </b>demonstram a  ordenação dos meses e das estaç&otilde;es do ano respectivamente a partir do &iacute;ndice de  similaridade de Bray-Curtis. &Eacute; poss&iacute;vel perceber que apesar de não existir  diferenças estat&iacute;sticas significativas entre os meses e nem entre as estaç&otilde;es  do ano, a an&aacute;lise MDS com sobreposição de Cluster aponta maior similaridade  (80%) entre os meses de dezembro de 2005 e fevereiro de 2006 e entre julho e  agosto de 2006 quando comparados aos demais meses de amostragem. Provavelmente a distância entre as &aacute;reas não seja suficientemente grande a  ponto de provocar diferenças significativas na quiropterofauna o que tamb&eacute;m &eacute;  reforçado pela movimentação evidenciada atrav&eacute;s das recapturas em &aacute;reas  distintas a da primeira captura. A pequena distância entre as &aacute;reas tamb&eacute;m pode  ser observada na an&aacute;lise de similaridade que foi maior entre as &aacute;reas 2 e 3,  separadas por aproximadamente 600   m. <br />     ]]></body>
<body><![CDATA[  Alguns estudos j&aacute; demonstraram que as esp&eacute;cies mais abundantes,  geralmente mais oportunistas, podem possuir &aacute;reas de vida relativamente grandes,  realizando grandes deslocamentos di&aacute;rios, al&eacute;m de serem bastante tolerantes a  matriz alterada (e.g. Bernard e Fenton, 2003; Bianconi et al., 2004). <br />       A riqueza espec&iacute;fica obtida, de 15 esp&eacute;cies, representa 8.9% da  quiropterofauna brasileira (Miranda et al., 2007; Reis et al., 2007), 37.5% da  fauna de morcegos do estado do Rio Grande do Sul (Pacheco e Marques, 2006;  Weber et al., 2006; Bernardi et al., 2007; Pacheco et al., 2007; Passos et al.,  2010) e 65.2% das esp&eacute;cies j&aacute; registradas para o munic&iacute;pio de Frederico  Westphalen (Bernardi et al., 2009). <br />       Quando analisamos a riqueza de esp&eacute;cies, a despeito de  Phyllostomidae ser considerada a fam&iacute;lia predominante nas comunidades de  mam&iacute;feros Neotropicais (Humphrey e Bonaccorso, 1979), Vespertilionidae  apresentou a maior riqueza espec&iacute;fica refletindo a influência do clima  temperado das altas latitudes austrais sobre as comunidades aqui estudadas  (Stevens, 2004). <br />       Os frug&iacute;voros <i>S. lilium </i>e <i>A. lituratus </i>foram as  esp&eacute;cies mais abundantes deste trabalho, corroborando com diversos outros  estudos na região neotropical, onde parece haver um padrão com os filostom&iacute;deos  dominando as comunidades (Voss e Emmons, 1996; Lim e Engstrom, 2001; Bernard e  Fenton, 2002; Shalley et al., 2005). Esp&eacute;cies consideradas comuns podem  apresentar maior plasticidade alimentar e comportamental, que lhes proporciona  facilidade de adaptação a &aacute;reas de diferentes tamanhos e n&iacute;veis de degradação.  Medellin et al. (2000) avaliaram as comunidades de morcegos de quatro tipos de  ambientes classificados de acordo com o grau de antropização e encontraram <i>S.  lilium </i>como esp&eacute;cie mais abundante nas &aacute;reas mais alteradas, indicando essa  relação entre abundância e distribuição. <br />       Nos estados da porção sul-brasileira este padrão tamb&eacute;m parece ser  fato. Com exceção dos trabalhos realizados em regi&otilde;es c&aacute;rsticas onde o  morcego-vampiro <i>Desmodus rotundus </i>(E. Geoffroy, 1810) parece ser mais  abundante (Trajano, 1996; Arnone e Passos, 2007), nos estudos realizados em  &aacute;reas florestais, sem influência de cavernas, <i>S. lilium </i>e <i>A.  lituratus </i>normalmente figuram entre as esp&eacute;cies mais abundantes (Pedro e  Passos, 1995; Pedro et al., 2001; Passos et al., 2003; Bianconi et al., 2004;  Dala Rosa, 2004; Reis e Ortêncio-Filho, 2005; Zanon e Reis, 2007). <br />       Merece destaque no presente  trabalho <i>M. ruber </i>(C = 50%), que a despeito de sua ampla distribuição  geogr&aacute;fica &eacute; uma esp&eacute;cie </font><font size="3" face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">considerada ameaçada de extinção sob  a categoria "Vulner&aacute;vel" no Rio Grande do Sul (Pacheco e Freitas, 2003) e  juntamente com <i>P. bilabiatum</i>, "Dados Insuficientes" (Pacheco e Freitas,  2003) divide a terceira posição no ranking de abundância total e relativa. <br />       Quando analisamos a composição da comunidade do ponto  de vista tr&oacute;fico, podemos perceber que os frug&iacute;voros apesar de possu&iacute;rem  somente cinco esp&eacute;cies, representam mais de 90% em termos de abundância, em  contraste com os inset&iacute;voros que com nove esp&eacute;cies representam menos de 10%. A  maior representatividade do h&aacute;bito frug&iacute;voro pode ser resultado de uma s&eacute;rie  de causas, entre elas, o fato de ser o h&aacute;bito alimentar predominante na fam&iacute;lia  Phyllostomidae, que &eacute; mais facilmente capturada com redes de neblina e tem suas  esp&eacute;cies geralmente dominando em abundância as comunidades de mam&iacute;feros  (Gardner, 1977; Fenton et al., 1992; Passos et al., 2003). <br />       Este contraste pode ser reflexo das limitaç&otilde;es  metodol&oacute;gicas inerentes ao uso de redes de neblina. Moloss&iacute;deos e  vespertilion&iacute;deos são dif&iacute;ceis de serem amostrados (Voss e Emmons, 1996; Bernad  e Fenton, 2003), pois, al&eacute;m de voarem mais alto que filostom&iacute;deos, possuem um  aparato ecolocalizador mais refinado, detectando com maior facilidade as redes  de neblina (Pedro e Taddei, 1997; Simmons e Voss, 1998). <br />       As curvas de acumulação em função dos meses de  captura, e de rarefação em função dos esp&eacute;cimes obtidos, não atingiram ass&iacute;ntota,  sugerindo o acr&eacute;scimo de novas esp&eacute;cies com o aumento do esforço. De acordo com  Colwell e Coddington (1994), a ausência de ass&iacute;ntota indica que as condiç&otilde;es  ideais de esforço amostral ainda não foram obtidas. O n&uacute;mero de capturas  obtidos tamb&eacute;m foi insuficiente segundo Bergallo et al. (2003), que apontam  1000 capturas como n&uacute;mero m&iacute;nimo para considerar uma &aacute;rea bem amostrada nos  dom&iacute;nios da Mata Atlântica. A despeito disso, a estimativa de riqueza de  Jakknife de 20.3 esp&eacute;cies se aproxima da riqueza apresentada por Bernardi et  al. (2009) de 25 esp&eacute;cies para o munic&iacute;pio de Frederico Westphalen. <br />       Hourigan  et al. (2006) compararam a estrutura das comunidades de quir&oacute;pteros não  pteropod&iacute;deos em 32 &aacute;reas sob diferentes graus de urbanização na Austr&aacute;lia e  conclu&iacute;ram que o n&uacute;mero de esp&eacute;cies diminui à medida que aumenta a urbanização  da &aacute;rea. <br />     ]]></body>
<body><![CDATA[  Neste  trabalho encontramos a menor riqueza de esp&eacute;cies na &aacute;rea 2, considerada aqui  como uma &aacute;rea moderadamente perturbada. O menor n&uacute;mero de esp&eacute;cies e mais  especificamente a ausência de representantes da fam&iacute;lia Molossidae pode estar  relacionado com a arquitetura da vegetação da &aacute;rea que se apresenta mais densa  do que nas demais. <br />       Baumgarten  (2009) aponta que &aacute;reas onde a vegetação se apresenta mais obstru&iacute;da privilegiam  as capturas de esp&eacute;cies com boa manobrabilidade, com baixo "aspect ratio", como  a grande maioria dos Phyllostomidae e Vespertilionidae em detrimento aos  inset&iacute;voros com alto "aspect ratio", forrageadores de &aacute;reas abertas como os  Molossidae. Fato semelhante foi observado por Ciechanowski (2002) em Darzlubska Forest,  na Polônia, com esp&eacute;cies inset&iacute;voras forrageadoras de &aacute;reas abertas como <i>Nyctalus  noctula </i>(Schreber, 1774). <br />       Nossos  dados demonstraram não haver diferenças estatisticamente significativas na  composição entre os meses e nem entre as estaç&otilde;es, sugerindo a ausência de  sazonalidade nos parâmetros utilizados para descrever a comunidade. <br />       Quando abordamos os efeitos da sazonalidade sobre as  comunidades de morcegos neotropicais, podemos verificar que as comunidades se  comportam de maneiras bastante particulares não sendo poss&iacute;vel atribuir um  padrão. Algumas comunidades parecem não responder a sazonalidade do ambiente  (e.g. Montiel et al., 2006). Entretanto, uma s&eacute;rie estudos aponta variaç&otilde;es  sazonais mais ou menos pronunciadas nas comunidades de morcegos (Fleming, 1988;  Zortea, 2003; Zortea e Alho, 2008). Zortea e Alho (2008) encontraram diferenças  na abundância de algumas esp&eacute;cies de morcegos, como <i>Carollia perspicillata </i>e <i>S. lilium</i>, mais abundantes na estação seca, e <i>Artibeus planirostris</i>,  mais numeroso na estação chuvosa. A ausência de  variaç&otilde;es sazonais neste estudo pode estar relacionada com a ausência de  estaç&otilde;es &uacute;mida e seca bem definidas. <br />       No estado do Rio Grande do Sul, existe registro da  ocorrência para apenas uma esp&eacute;cie de Phyllostomidae da subfam&iacute;lia  Phyllostominae, o carn&iacute;voro <i>C. auritus </i>(Passos et al., 2010). Neste  estudo capturamos <i>C. auritus </i>apenas na &aacute;rea mais afastada da zona urbana  do munic&iacute;pio, e que recebe menor perturbação de origem antr&oacute;pica, fato que &eacute;  corroborado por ser a subfam&iacute;lia Phyllostominae tradicionalmente utilizada como  indicadora da qualidade do habitat, dado que seus representantes estão  associados a ambientes relativamente mais preservados (Medell&iacute;n et al., 2000;  Gorrensen e Willig, 2004; Peters et al., 2006). <br />       Apesar de as comunidades serem dinâmicas no espaço e no  tempo o que impossibilita a extrapolação dos dados aqui apresentados para  outras localidades ou mesmo outras &eacute;pocas, as informaç&otilde;es aqui apresentadas nos  permitem concluir que: (1) Nas três &aacute;reas amostradas, apesar de as comunidades  terem a participação de diferentes esp&eacute;cies, não existem diferenças  significativas em relação aos parâmetros riqueza e abundância; (2) Apesar de a  fam&iacute;lia Vespertilionidae apresentar maior riqueza espec&iacute;fica, a comunidade de  morcegos estudada &eacute; dominada pelas esp&eacute;cies frug&iacute;voras da fam&iacute;lia  Phyllostomidae, <i>S. lilium </i>e <i>A. lituratus</i>, fato muito semelhante  ao encontrado em outras &aacute;reas estudadas na região neotropical (Pedro e Passos,  1995; Voss e Emmons, 1996; Pedro et al., 2001; Lim e Engstrom, 2001; Bernard e  Fenton, 2002; Passos et al., 2003; Bianconi et al., 2004; Dala Rosa, 2004;  Shalley et al., 2005; Reis e Ortêncio-Filho, 2005; Zanon e Reis, 2007; Passos  et al., 2009); e, (3) Assim como j&aacute; demonstrado por Bernardi et al. (2009), os  relictos de Floresta Estacional Decidual do extremo norte do Rio Grande do Sul,  ainda guardam estoques consider&aacute;veis da fauna de quir&oacute;pteros, com a ocorrência  de esp&eacute;cies com status de conservação "Dados Insuficientes" e "Vulner&aacute;vel"  (Pacheco e Freitas, 2003). Tais dados reforçam o afirmado por Pacheco et al.
