Why Practical Philosophy and History of Ideas?
Alberdi used to say that philosophy in our nations, although nourished at the sources of universal knowledge, should rise from our needs. Without minimizing the purely theoretical dimension, Alberdi accentuates the practical dimension of philosophical wisdom. It is of vital importance to deepen the dimension of practical philosophy in these days of lightning changes, fragmentation and perplexities.  There is also an evident need for a historical understanding that will unravel the contradictions of our past and present. New perspectives will open from which to interpret current affairs, to critically evaluate cultural traditions, illuminate decisions and orientate actions to project into the future. This publication, ESTUDIOS, will contribute to serious and rigorous research in these issues as well as to their discussion and clarification.
The aim of this publication is double. On the one hand it would like to become a vehicle for the distribution and and transfer of scientific production pertaining to the studies of Practical Philosophy , History of Ideas and disciplines or issues relative to them. (esthetics, applied ethics, social ethics, gender studies, studies on culture, philosophy of law, moral philosophy, history of Latinamerican and Caribbean ideas, history of Iberian ideas, human rights issues, among others.). And on the other hand, it aspires to become a space for dialogue,discussion, and critical analysis of proposals coming from different parts of the country and Latin America with the sole requirement of academic and scientific quality.

Frequency: six-monthly (2 issues/year).

Its abbreviated title is Estud. filos. práct. hist. ideas (en línea), and it should be used in bibliographies, footnotes, references and bibliographic strips.
