About this journal

Basic Information

Sociedad y Religión is the first journal given over to the scientific study of the religious phenomenon in Latin America and the rest of the world. Set up in 1986 by Floreal Forni, edited by the Centre for Labour Studies and Research (CEIL) of the National Scientific and Technical Research Council (CONICET), it has seen over twenty-five years of uninterrupted development in an interdisciplinary field that joins up sociology, history and anthropology of religion, focusing particularly on Latin America. Since then it has espoused an editorial policy dedicated to the quality and originality of submitted works, the rigour of the double-blind peer review process that these are subjected to, and the plurality of points of view and phenomena addressed within its pages. For these reasons, it is sent research work, short articles and book reviews by both new and experienced authors from all over the world.

Sociedad y Religión is currently indexed in the Argentine Basic Core of Scientific Journals of the Argentine Centre of Scientific and Technological Information (CAICyT-CONICET), Latindex and SciELO

Frequency: biannual (2 issues/year).

Its abbreviated title is Soc. relig. (En línea and this should be used in bibliographies, footnotes, references and bibliographic strips.

Revista Sociedad y Religión ratifies the Open Access model in which scientific publications are made freely available at no cost online, with no time embargos and with no publication costs transferred to the authors. This policy seeks to dismantle the economic barriers that have created inequalities in the access to both information and the ability to publish investigation results.
