Abstract

VILLAFANEZ, Emilio Alejandro  and  FONSECA, Ezequiel. Story of a House with Stories: the Figueroa Family Memories. Paclin Department, Catamarca. Andes [online]. 2014, vol.25, n.1, pp.00-00. ISSN 1668-8090.

There is an indissoluble connection between the creation of the Paclín Department in the Catamarca Province, the Villa de La Merced and Figueroa family. This paper aims to present these connections and relationships, contextualised within the imposing house where this family lived, being their owners Wilfrido Figueroa and Domitilla Tapia. It was in this house where they took not only some of the decisions that marked the course of the Department, but also, a place of the typical family experiences of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Through a comprehensive literature review and an unstructured interview with one of the great grand-daughters of the owner, we intend to present part of the Department's recent history.

Keywords : Paclín; Story; House; Genealogy; Figueroa.
