Abstract

GONZALEZ, Rodrigo. Amenity Migration and Mountain Tourist Destinations competitivety in Western Canada and Northern Patagonia, Argentina. Estud. perspect. tur. [online]. 2011, vol.20, n.5, pp.1102-1122. ISSN 1851-1732.

The purpose of this research proposal is to analyze the experience of a group of Canadian mountain tourist destinations -mainly in the provinces of Alberta and British Columbia- which are facing amenity migration processes through a comparative study with a group of mountain destinations in Argentina's Northern Patagonia in order to promote guidelines for local development of mountain tourist destinations of the Northern Patagonia. These destinations profitability crisis causes and consequences are analyzed as well as the possibilities to consider tourism as a way to ensure social and economic development.
